The Camel Challenge is a unique project with an exceptional aim.  It is an exciting and exhilarating way to make a real contribution to the Bedouin communities of Jordan whilst experiencing their ancient way of life first hand.

The Challenge for you is if you give up your modern lifestyle for a week and trek through the glorious, unspoilt deserts of this beautiful country in the way it was meant to be seen – from the back of a camel?

  • Day 1 : Welcome to Jordan

    Flight to Jordan, upon arrival to QAIA Amman , meet and assist by  La Beduina tours representative . Passport formalities and visa handling. Direct transfer from airport to Amman 33 km. to hotel ,  check in at hotel followed by O/N Amman.

    Overnight Standard hotel. 

  • Day 2 : Amman – Al-Humaimeh , Meet your camel , O/N camping

    Breakfast at hotel. At 7.30 am bus  transfer from Amman to old Humaimeh through the desert highway, 4 hrs. drive, then start half day riding  through Al-  Humaimah; a nabatean  caravan station during the 2nd. century B.C . Our route today takes us through some beautiful wadis, eventually giving way to more level terrain as we continue south  toward Wadi Rum . On the way we pass some of the extraordinary remains of the Nabatean water irrigation canals which served the city of Humaimeh. 

    Originally named Aura, Humaimeh was built by king Aretas ( 86-62 BCE ) continue to Kharazah for dinner and  O/N camping.

  • Day 3 : Full day camel trek . O/N camping

    After Breakfast at camp,  a wonderful day ahead. We continue through Wadi Rum mainly descending from about 700 meters to sea level. Stunning in it’s natural beauty, we trek alongside weathered mountains and occasional camels passing "like ships in the desert ". we will tour the northern side of Wadi Rum where we visit the natural bridge stone and the Sand dunes of Wadi Rum.

    This night we will camp at Wadi Umm Salab. 
     
    Overnight Basic Camping. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner 

  • Day 4 : Full day camel trek O/N camping

    After breakfast at camp , we head through the heart of  Wadi Rum & Wadi Umm Ishreen.  We start riding from this site of Wadi  towards  southern part, Where Lawrence of Arabia used to live.He spent considerable time in wadi rum during the Arab revolution . 
     
    Wadi Rum also has some of the most spectacular desert scenery to be found anywhere. Along and incredible day's  riding , we camp virtually in the middle of wadi rum surrounded only by hills of granite and desert sand at Wadi Alqoudear .
     
    Overnight Basic Camping. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner 

  • Day 5 : Full day camel trek . O/N camping

    After breakfast , start riding from Wadi Algoudear towards Siq Al Barah; the longest canyon in Wadi Rum,  Next to Jabal Enfesheiah, where we can stop on Siq Umm Al Tawaky; a narrow canyon, called “the prison” by Bedouins . 

    At this canyon there was a meeting between King Feisal (the ruler of Hijaz) and Lawrence of Arabia. The meeting was to discuss the Arab revolution against the Ottoman’s. From this canyon, the Arab revoltion started by camel men  all the way to Aqaba. From here  continue to  Wadi Sabat, along the Saudi border . Beautiful sites to explore , continue riding to Jabal Umm Al Dami 1884 m. above sea level ; the southern part of Wadi Rum. Then via Wadi Umm Saham to Wadi Rizgah, Dinner and O/N camping.

  • Day6 : Full day camel trek , transfer to Petra

    After  breakfast at camp , start riding from Wadi Rizgah to Wadi Swaibit , among the most interesting sand dunes and canyons, viewing more and more  of Wadi Rum , following the footsteps of an ancient civilization from the Nabatean era. Passing by Jabal Rum, 1754m. above sea level,then riding through Wadi Ramman to Jabal Um al Adaani, continue  through Wadi Sulaiman , Wadi  Ramman ,  afternoon finish by the rail way station .

    followed by transfer  to Petra . On arrival to hotel check-in followed by out side Dinner at the Red Cave Restaurant .O/N at hotel 

    Overnight Standard hotel. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner 

  • Day 7 : The rose red city adventure . Petra O/N

    Breakfast at hotel. guided tour of Petra including lunch, Dinner and O/N Hotel Petra .
    Overnight Standard hotel. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner 

  • Day 8 : Petra – Airport (Departure)

    After Breakfast at hotel Transfer to Queen Alia International Airport for departure

Child Prices

Children bellows 12 years old are free of entrance fees, with reduction $80per child.

All payments must be done in US dollars, through bank transfer, visa or credit card. 

Useful Tips

As with any expedition into a desert area, trekkers should always be well-equipped. It is easy to get lost in this maze of mountains and desert, so it’s better to follow your guide. Always carry a map of the area and a compass, as well as plenty of water, sunblock and a hat.


What to Bring? 

-Long Trousers for riding
-Sturdy walking shoes
-T-shirt and long sleeved shirts
-Hat protection from the sun, covering your neck as well.
-Fleece and windproof jacket (in winter it may be cold at night).
-Sandals or other shoes for camp
-Sunglasses
-2-litre water bottle
-Torch
-Sleeping bag.


Meals : 

All meals are provided. While in hotels, we will generally eat in the hotel and enjoy a selection from the buffet for dinner and breakfast.
In the desert all meals are prepared fresh and cooked over an open fire. You will be pleasantly surprised by the variety and standard of food served to you.  We also accommodate vegetarian meals.

Camping :

We always use spectacular wilderness areas. We decide the exact location, depending on the weather and the season.  We provide the following Camping Equipment :

-Bedouin tents 
-Mattresses 
-Carpets 
-Light 
-Firewood , all cooking supplies and washing Facilities.
